EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2018 NOTARY FEE INCREASE

June 29th, 2018

The Lieutenant Governor’s office will be changing the rates of notary commissions effective July 1, 2018. The new fee for a four year commission will be $95 for the initial application and test, and $40 to retake the notary test within 30 days of the first test attempt. Please keep in mind these costs do not include the bond, stamp and notary journal, which must be obtained separately.

The notary commission fee has remained unchanged since 2008; however, due to the increase in costs to maintain this service, our rates must change to reflect these costs. Rest assured, our commitment to ensuring proper training and important information given to notaries public for the State of Utah will not change, and will continue to get better.

Please provide any constructive feedback you may have in order to help our process at notary@utah.gov.
