Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert signed 2 notary bills; HB52 Remote Notarization Standards* and HB408 Notary Public Liability Amendments
stemming from the 2019 Legislative Session. More information regarding how these bills will affect Utah Notaries Public will be forthcoming.

*Important information regarding HB52 Remote Notarization Standards. This bill does not go into effect until November 1, 2019. This means that until November 1, 2019, Utah law does not allow for remote notarizations. Any notaries who perform a remote notarization before this date will be revoked under current statutory regulations.

The remote notary application/certification process will be available for current Utah Notaries Public beginning on November 1, 2019.
